Two ways of working, one philosophy. Most clients start with one and drift toward the other — turnkey clients who expand the scope, renovation clients who want us to focus on a few rooms. The service adapts to the project.
FULL TURNKEY DESIGN
For clients who want the whole thing quietly taken care of.
The most common way clients work with us. We're briefed on a set of rooms — sometimes three, sometimes the whole house — and we handle every part of the design and delivery from there. Design, sourcing, procurement, subcontractor coordination, install day itself.
You approve. We do the rest.

We start with a proper conversation — understanding how you live, what needs to change, what you're quietly frustrated by, what the house has to hold. From that, we develop a design direction, then room-by-room proposals with material boards, 3D visuals where useful, and clear specifications for every piece.
Once approved, we handle procurement, coordinate any subcontractors involved (decorators, joiners, lighting), and manage the install through our own warehouse and white-glove delivery team. On install day, we're on site until every last cushion is in place. You walk into a finished home.

FULL HOME DESIGN AND FF&E DELIVERY
For clients renovating a period home, working with their own architect and contractor.
For forever-home projects — usually a period property that needs proper structural work before the interiors can happen. The architect and main contractor are your appointments and your contracts. We work alongside them on the interior design, then take full ownership of the FF&E through Mandeville Home so the finished interiors land the way they were designed.

We come in early — while the architect is still developing the drawings — to shape the interior thinking from the inside out. How each room will actually be used. Where the light needs to fall. How the flow between spaces holds together. What the finishes and materials need to do. We work as a design consultancy through this phase, feeding into the contractor's work as it progresses.
Once the base build is underway, we design and specify the interiors — joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, materials, lighting, FF&E — and deliver the whole FF&E package through our own procurement, warehouse and install team. You get a home that reads as one considered piece of work, not a series of disconnected decisions.

HOW IT WORKS
Every interior design project moves through the same five stages. Some are quick, some take months. Your project sets the pace.
Initial conversation
A proper first meeting — free, unhurried, on site where possible. We listen to what you're trying to achieve, ask the questions no-one else has, and get a feel for whether we're the right studio for you. No moodboards yet.
Proposal and agreement
A clear scope, a fee proposal, and a realistic timescale. Nothing hidden, nothing left vague. You know what you're saying yes to before you say it.
DESIGN
Layout, direction, concept, and detailed room-by-room design. Materials, joinery, furniture, lighting. Presentations, revisions, and a final design you're genuinely excited about — not just resigned to.
PROCUREMENT
Everything gets sourced, ordered, and coordinated. Furniture, finishes, joinery, lighting, decoration. Delivered into our warehouse, held ready for install day.
INSTALL
Delivery, install and final styling — usually completed in a single day. You come home to a finished house.

How do I know which service is right for me?

Do you work outside Hertfordshire?

We focus on Harpenden, St Albans, Radlett and the surrounding villages. We do occasionally take on projects further afield where the fit is right — get in touch and we'll be honest about whether it's one for us.
How long does the design process take?

Every project sets its own pace. A room-by-room turnkey project might run three to six months from first conversation to install day. A full period-home renovation typically runs twelve to eighteen months alongside the architect and contractor. We'll give you a realistic timeline early — not a hopeful one.
What's included in the design fee — and what isn't?

Design fees cover our time, thinking, presentations and coordination. Furniture, finishes, joinery, decoration and any subcontractor work are priced separately, budgeted transparently, and always agreed with you before anything is ordered.
Yes — this is the norm for our full home service. We work alongside your existing team and bring the interior thinking early enough that everything integrates properly. If you don't yet have an architect or contractor, we can recommend people we trust.
