The Brief
Our client came to us with something specific in mind.
She didn't want a house designed for the grown-ups with children's rooms tacked on. She wanted a home where every family member could see themselves in it — kids included. And she wanted the whole thing to hold together. Warmth, harmony and real personality in the same rooms. Not a series of themed spaces. Definitely not a magazine set.
how we did it
The starting point wasn't a mood board. It was a conversation with each member of the family — including the children.
Layout, colour, furniture: everyone got a say in the rooms that would become theirs. Bespoke joinery in the kids' spaces was designed to hold and celebrate their art — actual art, made by them, framed and displayed rather than filed away in a drawer. Headboards were upholstered with integrated reading lamps and power points — practical luxury that only reads as thoughtful once you notice it.
The adults' spaces were designed with the same care, tuned quieter. Serene where the kids' spaces are playful. Considered where theirs are exuberant. Different registers of the same idea, held together by a consistent hand on materials, palette and craft.
the result
Individuality without chaos. Harmony without uniformity.
The kids' rooms feel like theirs. The adults' spaces feel like theirs. The whole house feels like it belongs to all of them.
Not a family home decorated to look impressive. A family home designed to actually work for the family who lives in it.
